Research on the Jet Characteristics and Dephosphorization Efficiency of Converter Oxygen Lance Blowing CO2-O2 Mixed Gas

Utilization of CO2 in steelmaking process has attracted extensive attention recent years, not only because its social benefits, but also better metallurgical performance. Mixing with O2 blown by converter oxygen lance is gradually being adopted plants, due to potential reducing consumption and improving steel quality. In the present research, effect mixing on jet characteristics a four-nozzle was studied detail numerical simulation, taking combustion behavior between supersonic jets ambient atmosphere into consideration innovatively. The simulated results showed that flame mainly distributed region multiple jets, high temperature noticeable influence low-velocity jet. Due dilution CO2, will reduce maximum slow down rate. With increase ratio, high-temperature zone moves away from tip significantly. At same distance nozzle, although can hardly velocity magnitude jet, it achieve higher dynamic pressure, indicating stronger impacting power. Then industrial experiment top blowing O2-CO2 carried out 120-ton converter. During time 120~300 s, ratio 15 vol.% for dephosphorization, no mixed rest blowing. stirring thermodynamics, average [P] content final molten decreased 0.0155 wt.% 0.0129 wt.%, achieving dephosphorization efficiency.
